Water saving
As the new season kicks off, it’s not just about goals and wins. It’s also a great time to support your club and the match venues you visit by saving water.
The Staffordshire Girls and Ladies League has teamed up with league sponsor Water Plus to share top tips that can be a game-changer.
Not only do they help to save water, they can also cut your club’s running costs too, freeing up more money for the footy. That’s another win!
Here’s how to score savings for your sports clubs
· Check for leaks: Report dripping taps, showers, or toilets to facility managers.
· Turn off taps: A running tap can waste up to 6 litres per minute — that’s 24 cups of tea every 60 seconds!
· Fix quickly: One sports centre, with football pitches, saved over 3,000 litres in a week by fixing six leaks with Water Plus support. Three were on toilets, with all six leaks stopped with easy repairs.
Smart saves from simple devices
From flush-saving kits to tap flow restrictors, small upgrades can lead to big savings. One football club saved over 1,100 litres a week just by fixing a tap leak and installing efficiency devices.
Protect the environment with every drop saved
Every litre of water used contributes to carbon emissions. By reducing water use, clubs can lower their environmental impact. It also helps to ensure we have enough water flowing for everyone.
Reusing water from water butts, or storage systems that are easy to install, is a smart way to save both money and cut emissions.
